CHRISTIAN MEDICAL AND DENTAL FELLOWSHIP OF HONG KONG

CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1 NAME

The name of this Fellowship shall be the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Hong Kong (香港基督徒醫生及牙醫團契 ).

ARTICLE 2 OBJECTS

The objects of the FELLOWSHIP are :-

  1. To encourage members towards maturity in Christ by sharing and bearing each other's burden in prayer and fellowship;
  2. To establish a Christian view on the dilemmas and problems that arise in the practice of our profession, and to present these views, as a positive Christian witness, to our medical/dental professional colleagues and the public at large;
  3. To encourage members to take a definite interest and share in Christian medical mission -- both local and overseas;
  4. To encourage members to take active parts, in co-operation with nursing and para-medical Christian groups, in patient and colleague evangelism.

ARTICLE 3

This Fellowship while entirely autonomous, shall be affiliated with the Graduate Christian Fellowship (Hong Kong).

ARTICLE 4 STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Doctrinal Basis of the Fellowship shall be :-

(1) The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead.

(2) The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment.

(3) The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

(4) The universal sinfulness and guilt of all men since the Fall, rendering them subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

(5) Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

(6) The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and His ascension to the right and of God the Father.

(7) The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.

(8) The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone.

(9) The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

(10) The one Holy Universal Church which is the Body of Christ and to which all true believers belong.

(11) The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

BY LAWS

1.0.0 MEMBERSHIP

1.1.0 Regular Membership

1.1.1 Regular membership in this Fellowship shall be open to all those medical and dental graduates who are in agreement with its purpose, have signed the Statement of Faith and desire to take part in its programme.

1.1.2 Only regular members shall have voting privileges and the right to hold office.

1.1.3 Regular membership shall be granted to those who

(1) make proper application and sign the Statement of Faith,

(2) are in good standing in their local professional organization,

(3) pay the required dues.

1.2.0 Affiliates

1.2.1 Affiliation with this Fellowship shall be offered to those medical undergraduates and persons engaged in medically orientated work who are in agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship and who desire to take part in its programme.

1.2.2 Affiliates shall not vote at business meetings or hold office in the Fellowship.

1.3.0 Meetings

1.3.1 The Fellowship shall hold an Annual General Meeting of members in the month of October or November in each year, at a time designated by the Executive Committee. The Secretary shall cause notice to be given to all members of the time and place of the Annual General Meeting at least four weeks in advance thereof.

1.3.2 A special meeting of the members of the Fellowship should be called by the Chairman within six weeks at the request of the Executive Committee or at the request of two-third of the regular membership. The Secretary shall cause notice to be given to all members of the time and place of the special meeting at least four weeks in advance thereof.

1.3.3 The quorum at any general or special meeting of the Fellowship shall be 15 regular members or one quarter of the regular membership (whichever is less) present in person or by proxy.

2.0.0 OFFICERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP (The Executive Committee)

2.1.0 The officers of this Fellowship shall be a Chairman, a Vice Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer and three other committee members. Any other officers as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee may be co-opted from the membership.

2.2.0 The duties of the officers of the Fellowship shall be those which normally fall to each position, or as designated by the Executive Committee.

2.3.0 All officers shall be elected for a one year term by an open election held in the Annual General Meeting. A majority of all votes cast is necessary for election. In case of the failure of any candidate to obtain such majority, a runoff election shall be held between the two candidates receiving the most votes. The term of service of all officers shall be from 1st of January to 31st of December each year.

2.4.0 All officers and candidates must be members of the Fellowship in good standing.

2.5.0 The quorum for an Executive Committee meeting shall be four (4) of its members.

3.0.0 CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAW AMENDMENTS

3.1.0 This constitution shall be adopted upon receiving a twothird vote of the members present in the First General Meeting.

3.2.0 The constitution may be amended by an extraordinary resolution passed by a two-third vote of the total regular membership at the Annual or the Special General Meeting of the Fellowship of which notice specifying the intention to propose the resolution as an extraordinary resolution has been given for at least twenty-eight days in advance.

4.0.0 FINANCE

4.1.0 Membership Fee

4.1.1 Regular members : all regular members are required to pay an annual subscription fee, the amount of which shall be fixed by the members at the Annual General Meeting from time to time. The annual subscription may be halved for membership of less than six months duration.

4.1.2 Affiliate members : all affiliate members are required to pay an annual subscription fee, the amount of which shall be fixed by the members at the Annual General Meeting from time to time. The annual subscription may be halved for membership of less than six months duration.

4.2.0 The treasurer shall prepare a financial statement for the Annual General Meeting , incorporating a budget for funds to be expended to the end of the fiscal year.

4.3.0 A bank account shall be opened in the name of Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Hong Kong (香港基督徒醫生及牙醫團契 ) signed by 3 persons in the Executive Committee and any 2 of the 3 signaturers signed together can be considered valid.

4.4.0 The objects of the Fellowship shall be carried on without purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other accretions to the Society shall be used for promoting the objects of the Fellowship.

5.0.0 DISSOLUTION

5.1.0 In the event of dissolution of the Fellowship, all its remaining assets shall be distributed to some other institutions having similar to the objects of the Fellowship or to the Fellowship of Evangelical Students (Hong Kong) Ltd. as the Fellowship shall in its Special Meeting decide.

6.0.0 ADVISORS

6.1.0 The Executive Committee may from time to time invite such person or persons as they think fit to be the Advisor(s) of the Fellowship.

6.1.1 Advisors should be Christians from various medical or nonmedical fields who are in agreement with the statement of Faith of the Fellowship and interested in the work of the Fellowship.
